Turning 40 is a milestone worth celebrating in style, and when it came to my husband Ryan’s big day, we wanted a party that blended elegance with family-friendly fun. With three young children in tow, the goal was to create an event that everyone could enjoy—adults and kids alike. The result? We chose The River Room at Pier 33, a stunning space that offered the perfect backdrop with its coastal charm and breathtaking waterfront views. The light-filled room with its modern aesthetic complemented our theme beautifully, creating an effortlessly elegant atmosphere.

European Chic Vibes

The theme was clear: European chic. We wanted to capture the relaxed yet sophisticated essence of a European summer, and the decor did just that. Styled impeccably by Inspired By You Events, the space was adorned with a palette of blues, whites, and pops of lemon. These fresh hues complemented the venue’s coastal vibe, adding a breezy, Mediterranean feel to the celebration.

Entertainment: From Acoustic Tunes to Dancefloor Anthems

No party is complete without great music. We kicked things off with a soulful live performance by the incredibly talented Samuel Jordan, whose acoustic set created the perfect laid-back ambience. As the evening progressed, a DJ took over, transforming the River Room into a lively dance floor where guests of all ages could groove the night away.

A Feast to Remember

When guests arrived, they were greeted with welcome drinks—refreshing margaritas and Sicilian-inspired cocktails that set the mood for the evening. The food was a highlight, starting with abundant grazing platters filled with artisanal cheeses, cured meats, and fresh fruits. For canapés, we served house-made calamari, bruschetta, chicken satay sticks, prawn rolls, and cheeseburger sliders. Each bite was a hit, perfectly balancing casual elegance with crowd-pleasing flavours.

The Show-Stopping Cake

Dessert was a standout moment, thanks to Sweet P Cakes and Cookies. The white chocolate and raspberry cake was not only visually stunning with its European-themed design but also absolutely delicious. It was the perfect sweet note to end the evening on.

The first glimpse our guests had of Ryan’s 40th birthday bash came through the beautifully designed invitations and event signage by Little J Design. Their elegant, European chic-inspired designs set the perfect tone for the celebration, featuring sophisticated drawings and a colour palette that mirrored our event decor. The cohesive signage tied everything together seamlessly.

Fashion Highlights

Of course, no celebration is complete without fabulous outfits. Our girls looked adorable in dresses from Seed, paired with chic shoes from Shein. Our son rocked a stylish look from head to toe in Zara Kids. As for me, I wore the beautiful Alemais Sofie Off-Shoulder Dress, complemented by classic Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heels. My hair was styled to perfection by Tara Ann Artistry, and my makeup was flawlessly done by Hannah Mills Makeup Artist.
